Hunter Seat O/F and Flat Candidate

My love and connection with horses has been with me as long as I can remember. My Breyer horses, hobby horses, stick horses and rocking horses turned into ponies, hunters, jumpers and equitation horses early in my childhood. It’s a connection that I thought was normal. But as I got older, I realized it was special and innate.

I have spent tens of thousands of hours around horses, working tirelessly to perfect my riding. I started competing locally when I was six. I dreamed about competing nationally, while watching the live feed of the Maclay Finals from Alltech Arena in Kentucky year after year. This inspired me to practice and train even harder. That hard work started paying off.

In 2018, I qualified and competed in my first national medal final in Kentucky. I placed 5th out of 104 riders in the NHS Hamel Foundation Medal Finals and won the Equitation Over Fences Under 14. In 2019, at my first Maclay Regional Finals, my next dream came true.  As a 13-year old rider, I placed in the Top 20 to qualify for the Maclay Finals. I was going to Indoors as one of the youngest riders! I competed at The Capital Challenge Horse Show for the THIS Medal Finals, The Pennsylvania National Horse Show for the USEF Dover Medal Finals, and The National Horse Show for the Maclay Finals. The experience was challenging, rewarding and, ultimately, inspirational. I finished Indoors placing 7th in the THIS Medal Finals and a 2nd place finish in an Open Equitation class of 95 riders. I performed solidly in the Dover and Maclay and returned home with more knowledge, passion and commitment to the sport I love. In 2020, I qualified for Indoors but opted to stay closer to home due to Covid-19 restrictions. But all was not lost, I achieved one of my biggest equitation goals and won the R.W. Mutch Equitation Championship at the end of the year.

In addition, I have been riding more jumpers, as I also set a goal to ride in a Grand Prix while still in my junior years. After that, I have my sights set to ride at the collegiate level—and beyond...
